Hey I am Kumud Baliyan. I am from Delhi, but born in Jammu. I am an Ex – NIFT-ian (Textile Designer) and a Design Faculty in Design Entrance Coaching Institute where I mentor teenagers and students in their early 20s. Here’s my story of survival.

Travelling to different parts of India and teaching kids made me get involved too much into working on developing aesthetic creativity. As a result it made me lose my inner questioning, inner desires fulfilment, inner character development, spiritual development. I could not give effective answers to my own questions and doubts on patterns of opportunities living in the times. I found it hard to initiate / make relationships with surroundings as everything that was happening around had a historical agenda behind it which would come up only after a few days…So without any ways to express and  communicate the processed understanding I lived each day.

How my life changed for good?

Survivor Series: Kumud

With many other incidents one of the incidents was visiting The Orange Room and meeting Sherin Ma’m.She patiently listened to whatever I had to say , giving assurance of no judgment, hence made me see what all are stored in my mind as beliefs and other hindrances.

It became a point of self-awareness as I started sharing more about myself. Once I started I could see the flow of thoughts of different dimensions easily flowing out. And that’s when I realized that this could happen just by letting someone speak out their heart and mind. She was a big ear to me with a smile of assurance that she will not judge me about anything I tell her.She appeared interested to know more about what I had to say with a smile of acceptance regardless of the fact that it was our first meeting.

Hence I realized how simple active and  non judgmental listening can help one trust humans more. As  you start talking to someone like that you understand more about yourself as you speak…This is what our youth need …someone who could hear them without making any judgement…Someone who would help them understand themselves better!
